Optical rooms

This one is amazing, I wonder how they did it. If you look a the room from the wrong angle you see a random pattern, but if you’re in the right spot it all comes together into one image or shape. Brilliant stuff, do have a look at the website cause there are some really nice ones on there!!

256MB WRIST BAND

Pretty elegant solution to store 256Mb of data. Hopefull they will extend the capacity in the future, I like the idea of this.

WEIRDEST USB PLUGIN DEVICES

A collection of the ten most unexpected devices to plug into your USB port. I love the George Foreman grill, and the flower pot speakers aren't too bad either! But it is winter, and cold outside, so therefore these are my favourites: USB heated slippers!

ELFSTEDENTOCHT MONUMENT

Also in the Netherlands, also in Friesland: the monument to the Elfstedentocht, the big ice skate rally that goes by eleven cities in Friesland. It is only organised in years when the ice is thick enough, obviously.
The monument is in fact a bridge over one of the canals on the tour. It is covered in tiles, each tile carrying the picture of a participant of the tour in the last century. They are arranged in such way that from a distance they form the bigger image of the classic ice skaters on the tour. The typical blue and white Dutch tiles both follow a tradition of centuries of Dutch ceramics and evoke the cold and hard feeling of icy winter when the tour goes out.

HAVENKRAAN HARLINGEN

Can't really remember how I came across this site, but it is cool. Three 'hotels' in the Dutch city of Harlingen: one in a crane, one in the lighthouse and one in a boat. All beautifully designed. This one is the crane (Havenkraan), which guests can turn 360 degrees while staying there. The cabin is failry small, but the large window and the possibility to turn around offers an amazing view which hugely compensates for the small space!
