Now here’s a woman who looks like your average next-door neighbour, but who has the meanest sense of humour you’ve heard in a very long time. She is loud, she insults, she comes up with the stereotypes no one even dares to think and makes them even worse, and her audience just loves it. She comes up with one hilarious statement after the other. Check it out!

Strange statues

http://haha.nu/funny/strange-statues-around-the-world/

A collection of strange statues from all around the world. There are some twisted minds out there! Make sure you keep scrolling down: the beginning is not really that strong, but further down you’ll find some amazing creations!

Funny though that Wim Delvoye’s copulating deers have not been included, I’d say they would fit in well.

Fivefingers

Saw these in a shop in Soho and just had to try them on. They offer no support, just protection of the foot sole. The idea is to give the feeling of walking barefoot, and to stimulate the muscles and ligaments of your feet to grow stronger. I like them very much, but at £69 a pair they don’t come cheap. I’d love to have a pair to take them to the gym, saves a lot of space and weight in my bag!

Shell

Great 1930's petrol station somewhere in the States. It has been recently restored in its former glory.

Takashi Murakami

The Japanese artist Takashi Murakami is fast becoming one of the important figures in today’s art world. His style: cartoon-like, manga-related pop with an edge. His work is a take on the Japanese oversexed pop culture and he uses the typical shapes and colors of this culture to make it.

I saw two of his best known sculptures in an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2001, they are fantastic. Life size manga-like figures, smooth and bright. ‘Hiropon’ is a girl with huge breasts; she holds her nipples and milk spurts out of it. She uses the string of milk as a skipping rope. The breasts are out of proportion and in sharp contrast with the youthly face. ‘My Lonesome Cowboy’ has the same thing going on: a guy holding his erect penis, with spunk going like a lasso in a wide circle all around his head. Both sculptures have an amazing energy and happiness about them, which even enlarges the impact they have.

Check out Murakami’s website for more examples of his fantastic graphic art and 3D works, featuring the DOB character he created. He also created the hugely popular new take on the classic Luis Vuitton canvas.
