André Waterkeyn, the engineer who created one of the most intruiging buildings in Belgium for the World Expo in 1958, died on saturday at the age of 88. Bit of a pity, as after a long battle they finally started the renovation of the whole thing, and it's only a couple of months until it is re-opened to the public. He won't be there to see the final result of the renovation. Originally, the Atomium (a huge enlargement of an Iron atom) would have been demolished even before the World Expo ended. Fortunately, it survived, and after the renovation it should be shining again.
